Łukasz Wróbel Sets a New Record on the Main Beskid Trail
Covering 500 kilometres with nearly 20,000 metres of elevation gain in just 92 hours, 30 minutes and 46 seconds, Łukasz Wróbel, known as "Motyla Noga", set a new record on the Main Beskid Trail (GSB). The project combined an extraordinary sporting achievement with a charitable mission, raising PLN 32,824 for the Foundation "Na Ratunek Dzieciom z Chorobą Nowotworową" (To the Rescue of Children with Cancer).
Two Goals, One Mission
From the very beginning, the project had two equally important objectives. The first was to break the record for the Main Beskid Trail. The second was to support children battling cancer through a fundraising campaign organised together with the Foundation. The initial goal was to raise PLN 20,000, but thanks to the generosity of donors, partners and supporting companies, the campaign ultimately raised more than PLN 32,800.
One of Poland's Most Demanding Trails
Łukasz Wróbel began the challenge on 30 June 2026 at 4:00 a.m. From the very first kilometres, the team had to deal with exceptionally high temperatures, making every step significantly more demanding. The Main Beskid Trail is considered one of the most challenging long-distance routes in Poland, featuring countless climbs, technical descents and constantly changing terrain.
From the outset, it was clear that breaking the record would require meticulous preparation, flawless logistics and unwavering determination throughout more than four days of almost continuous effort.
A Team Effort
The project would not have been possible without the support crew. The team was responsible for logistics, aid stations, transportation, nutrition, safety and communication throughout the challenge. Months of preparation helped eliminate unnecessary delays and enabled quick responses to changing conditions.
Thousands of supporters followed Łukasz's progress live using GPS trackers, cheering him on day and night. Their encouragement became an important source of motivation throughout the entire journey.
More Than a Physical Challenge
Although Łukasz's body handled the enormous physical effort remarkably well and he avoided any serious injuries, sleep deprivation proved to be the greatest challenge. During more than four days on the trail, he managed only a very short amount of sleep, leading to two major mental crises. At those critical moments, the unwavering support of his team made all the difference, helping him stay focused on the goal.
Determination, trust and teamwork allowed the project to continue even when the record seemed to be slipping away.
A New Record and Real Help
The challenge ended with an outstanding achievement. Łukasz Wróbel completed the Main Beskid Trail in 92:30:46, setting a new record and securing his place among the fastest athletes ever to complete Poland's longest mountain trail.
Equally important was the charitable outcome of the project. Together with donors, partners and supporters, PLN 32,824 was raised for the Foundation "Na Ratunek Dzieciom z Chorobą Nowotworową", proving that sport can inspire people to come together and make a real difference.
This record is not only the result of one athlete's determination but also of the dedication of an entire support team, committed partners and thousands of people who followed and encouraged the project from the very first to the very last kilometre.
